Listservs hosted by the CCC Technology Center can be customized according to the security needs of each organization. An initial level of security is established by setting the list as public, private, or moderated.
A public listserv is open to anyone to subscribe and unsubscribe at anytime.
A private listserv requires a subscriber to get permission from the list’s owner before the subscriber is added to the list..
A moderated listserv is similar to a newspaper: when you e-mail is sent to the list it is opened by an editor or moderator, who then decides what to do with the message.
All lists can be fine-tuned to a spectrum of security settings. For detailed information and support for your list's security settings, access the Listserv Handbook or contact Janet Larson at jlarson@cccnext.net.
